"Deciding to attend Barnard College is perhaps one of the best decisions I have made to date. It is an institution that truly helped me becomre the woman that I am today. It is academically rigourous, challenging you in every way, while still providing a nurturing community that allows you to grow into yourself. Many know it best for its relationship with Columbia University, though it is a mistake to think of it as simply an extension of the university or as an alternate form of entry. Barnard has a very specific culture and I found that students who attended with the intention of going to Columbia did not enjoy their time nearly as well. To the women in the world who may be interested: take a look at Barnard College because it is an absolutley wonderful school in its own right."

"Barnard College provides an excellent atmosphere for intellectual pursuit. Students have the opportunity to study under highly regarded professors and are surrounded by others of strong intellectual caliber. The course load of a typical student can be intense which leads to a lot of stress and anxiety issues among peers at the school. To be fair, many students take on so many courses in a given semester because they have the ambition to do so."

"Barnard supports women to grow to be strong and independent thinkers. They prepared me so well for the emotional and mental hurdles of a future career. And they prepared me for applying to healthcare professional school. Great professors and classmates. And NYC is the best city in the world"

"Barnard is a sanctuary where a woman is given the tools to define herself. A true liberal arts college is one where a scholar is encouraged to find the answers to the questions they've been asking. At Barnard, the highest grade comes not from a professor, but is the grade of self-evaluation. Who am I? What is my relevance in society? What do I want to learn? Barnard is the only place that I know, where defining oneself and following ones own true intellectual passions becomes an academic mission. With New York City as my backdrop, Barnard helped me to transform and learn about myself. My colleagues and I were encouraged to take advantage of the city and its endless possibilities, all with the support of our intimate campus environment when we needed the warmth of a community. At the end of the day, whether we were returning from an internship in midtown, a research project at a museum, a state-of the art performance in Brooklyn, we had our intimate circles of sisterhood to return to and a college that gave us a place within the great, vast city. With such support, I was invigorated not only to grow within the community but take on the city and explore my passions. I would recommend this school for any young woman with a passion for self-exploration and an unafraid spirit that desires the liberty to choose and grow from her choices."

"This provided a great academic setting with challenging courses and insightful professors. The lack of school community (also a huge issue at Columbia, across the street) and the issues with funding, housing, and tuition increases dampened my experience. There is grade inflation across some of the departments, but Economics is not one of them. Some departments offer too few courses per semester, making it almost impossible to get into classes."
